through the Etsy store. I have been on the fence about selling that piece for quite some time. I really love it, and it is a wonderful pre-Civil War piece, but I don't have a house big enough to really show it off, and I can't afford to have it restored.
As luck would have it, a lovely woman from North Carolina was interested in it. She and her husband own the Layton House, a pre Civil War home that has a rich history including a cannonball impression in the basement floor!. They are restoring the home and filling it with period pieces. I was so happy to sell the chest to these kind and interesting folks because I know they will restore the chest, put it in the library, and love it forever!
I think I hear the strains of Dixie now....
